New Year New Cycle, New Life New Cycle

Objective: After this lesson, students will learn about the new opportunities we are given in every cycle of life (reincarnation)

New Year, New Chance Cycle

Kids sit in a circle.

Each child completes one sentence (no pressure to speak long):

  • “This year I want to learn…”
  • “One thing I want to do better this year…”
  • “Something I’m excited about…”

👉 Bridge to theme

Say:

“Just like a new year gives us a fresh start, life also gives us new chances to learn.”

explain about reincarnation (see slides)

Game (15 min) MOVEMENT

⚖️ Is this helping me to grow as a spirit?

Place signs around the room:

  • KIND
  • FAIR
  • SELFISH
  • SELFLESSNESS
  • UNFAIR
  • UNKIND
  • RESILIENCE
  • INTOLERANT
  • INTEGRITY

Read a scenario and kids walk to the sign they think fits best.

Scenario examples

  • UNKIND “Someone laughs when another kid makes a mistake.”
  • SELFLESSNESS “You help even when no one sees.”
  • UNFAIR “You blame someone else to avoid trouble.”
  • KIND “You include someone new.”
  • INTOLERANT / SELFISH ”You do not like someone and start talking bad behind his/her back so other people also don’t like him/her”
  • INTEGRITY KIND “Someone starts talking bad about someone else that is not there, you decided to change the subject to something positive”
  • INTEGRITY ”You hit someone bicycle and left a dent, but no one saw it. You decided to leave a message apologizing and with your phone number so that they can contact you”
  • SELFLESSNESS ”You give up your free time to help someone”
  • RESILIENCE “you failed a test, but decided to keep trying and hired a tutor to help you out”

After each:

“Did my choice help me grow as spirit?”

This keeps energy up and avoids lecturing.
