Spirit – Why God let bad things to happen?

TOPIC

Explain the existence of God and why God let bad things to happen.

OBJECTIVE

At the end of this lesson children will have learned:

  • Why bad things are not a good example of God “inexistence”
  • Why does God let bad things to happen.

Educators can break this lesson into 2 parts: God Existence and God has a plan depending on how familiar students are with these concepts

OPENING:

  • quick round tell us about your week and introduction of new students
  • Opening Prayer – prayer box or volunteer

LAUNCH LESSON:

Have you heard the news about Lahaina in Hawaii?
What a horrible thing to happen. When you see something like that, you might ask yourself: Does God exist? Why did God allow this to happen?

Ask students if they ever asked this question and let them just answer the question.

I wanted to tell a story about a hairdresser. A woman went to her hairdresser’s salon to have her hair done as she usually does every 15 days. They became pretty good friends, and here is what happened last time she went to salon:

Here is a variation on the story you can use while telling the story

EXPLORE LESSON:

Well, it is hard to believe in God when there are so many bad things going on.
let’s go over this object lesson that shows what something that looks impossible and does not make any sense, at the end makes a lot of sense. That will help us understand why God would let bad things happen. Educator can show the video:

Or educators can do this Object Lesson by themselves, tell a story and ask students to follow along with this paper activities

ASSESSMENT:

ASK EVERYONE: What plan do you think God has for us? Allow students to answer

Why God let terrible things happen has much to do with our choices or the turbulences we must endure.
It would be so much easier to have someone on our side at all times, holding our hands, spotting when we are about to fall and picking us up. But that would prevent us from learning new things if we are protected from every danger.

God doesn’t usually interfere with the consequences of our choices. If He forced us to make the right decisions, it would be impossible for us to grow and reach our divine potential. It would be impossible to live by faith in Him and His plan for our happiness

CONCLUSION:

Today we discussed about ” “

And learned that God has a plan and it is to make us eternally happy. That’s it for today! Let’s dance now!
